hi there
apologies if not in the right place, but looked at a 90 square metre job today, 60 metres of hall/utility/sitting room, 30 metre kitchen
having a real headache working out a price, so wanted some ideas back from guys - i know without seeing it is tricky, but
30x30 standard porcelain tiles, 2 month old level screed. no undrfloor heating, no skirts on, kitchen in, tile to plinths, 1 colour in kithcen, different colour everywhere else ( so theoretically, 1 guy could start the kitchen while 1 guy does the rest)

will be two of us on it, but regardless of that, what would be a labour only ball park price?
all materials provided
really interested to hear how many days and what you guys would charge
many thanks

Id say two of you could get it done in a week, if it is a really level floor, and it sounds like it is. Thats not even 10metres each a day. Id probably allow a bit longer for hiccups!. If you said 10 days labour at you day rate - say £130 that works out at £1300. That however works out at £14 odd per m2 if you look at it that way. I'd probably go in at £1600 ish. That way if it takes you 6 s
days thats £800 each. Id be happy with that for 6 days work.

but sounds dead cheap at 14 quid a metre.
floor looks good, but these new builds are always rubbish at one point or another, but then again, it is straight bond, so should be able to steam through it.
i usually work on 7-10 metres a day individually, if you can get a clear run, which in two rooms you can, but a few hallways to deal with mind you.

i was pencilling in a bit longer, closer to 14 days - is that way too long do you reckon for 2?

90 is a big old area. but then 9 metres a day is do-able easily by yoursef - would just bore myself to death that is the only problem!!

Depends which way you look at it. I rarely give a m2 price and work out how long it is going to take. This seems a fairer way for me. So i'd forget the meterage rate and work out a day rate and contingency!

I'd also definately get a second pair of hands to help, it would be mind numbing doing that on your own!

Work out how many days it will take you, then times by your daily rate.
Then, divide and see what the meterage is.
If you're happy then keep to that, if it looks like you're tiling for anything less than £20 a m2 up it!

I agree. I only use a sqmtr price when it works in my favour. If not its day rate.

nice one sussex, a few hundred more than we quoted.

also, just been discussing price on a 60 square metre, 3 tile modular pattern layout kitchen floor.
new build, floors ok, but a bit wavey in places, so more adhesive will be used!!

been asked to quote labour plus addy/grout etc.
onto a underfloor heated screed, main room of 50 odd, pantry of 10 odd sq metres. 450 sq largest tile, 300 square smallest i think. these are fiddly buggers.

again two man job, ideas on time and prices would be awesome
cheers

What material? Why don't you level the floor?

as is shown by the answers above the ball park price will vary across the country just like the prices of many other things do.
When I moved from the east midlands to sussex (many years ago) the price of a pint (beer) went from 70p to a pound, a game of pool 20p to 50p and the cost of a house doubled. I doubt if any of these prices have evened out so I would expect a tiler in sussex to be charging more than one in the east midlands.

Hi Lee
Yes Dave is my older brother and i sometimes help him on larger jobs in the Derby area. I now live in Redditch south of Birmingham. Rates in this area have collapsed also, and there are a lot fewer jobs to quote for.
