I am about to lay a Toscano pattern floor in a conservatory. The pattern measures 1 square metre but is staggered in style when laid. The tiles are porcelain with wavy edges and consist of 550 x 333 mm (x2) 333 x 333 mm (x4) 333 x 165 mm (x2) 16 x 165 (x4). My questions are..
What is the best way to 'set out' this style of pattern?
What size spacers would be best...5 mm?
Should I use spacers or go by eye ?
The floor consists of a concrete substrate in a rectangular shaped conservatory. There has been one coat of self leveling compound applied by the builders but I have still found 'void' pocket areas of about 500 mm square where the depth exceeds 5 mm (up to 8 mm). I intend to 'fill out' the void areas by using Bal PTB the day before tile fixing. Any views on this??
I will be using appropriate Bal flexible adhesive for porcelain tiles and a wide joint grout but not having laid this style before, would appreciate any professional advice that may assist

Hi,
I did these exact tiles/pattern a couple of months ago. Using spacers was impossible because if the wavy edges so 'by eye' it is.
I kept things 'square' by using a chalk line, a laser and a long straight edge but taking your time is key.
I don't think Ive got the pattern anymore but I'll try to upload a 'during' pic which should be enough of the repeat for you to draw your own template.
Make sure the cust has ordered the right ratios of sizes tho otherwise you'll run out if one size first - and always make your cuts from the correct tile from the pattern flow I.e. Don't cheat cuts just because a smaller tile will fit.
Apart from that enjoy it - my floor was 52msq running through 4 adjoining rooms.
